History Rueda, although recognized in 1977, takes shape as such in 1980, being the first Denomination of Origin of Castilla y León to receive this recognition. Since then the white wines of Rueda have obtained an important international fame, with a unique character. The climatic conditions and the orographic characteristics of the soils of the environment make this area a privileged area for the cultivation of the vine, especially the native Verdejo grape, and gives its wines a unique personality with inimitable characteristics. Traditionally, young wines have been produced, differentiated by their peculiar greenish-yellow color and their aromas and fresh, fruity and elegant palate. However, in recent years, some wineries have opted for Barrel Fermentation and sparkling wines. Although the Verdejo variety is indigenous, in the DO Rueda we can find white wines made from other varieties such as Sauvignon Blanc, Viura or Palomino Fino and, since 2008, varieties that make it possible to make red and rosé wines.

Ramón Bilbao: A winery with tradition, one of the most recent to have settled in the D.O. Rueda that shows us its modern facilities and its best wines in a unique wine tourism offer.
La Soterraña: Located in the town of Olmedo itself, it is a clear example of tradition and quality of D.O. Wheel. Visiting its winery, you can also get to know the entire process of making its wines, taste them and enjoy a pleasant walk through its vineyards.
El Hilo de Ariadna (Yllera Group): Located in the town of Rueda itself, the Hilo de Ariadna is the clear example of a traditional underground cellar, its passageways resembling a labyrinth that we go through in the hands of mythology and the history of wine with the legend of the Minotaur.
La Mejorada: We found the winery in the town of Olmedo, under the walls of what was an old Jerome monastery. With their wines they express the influence that the soil, the microclimate and their practices have on the plant and, therefore, on the grape. They seek finesse and elegance that transports anyone who tastes a wine from La Mejorada to its landscape.
