TRADITION TURNED WINE
Under the walls of the Monastery of Santa María de Valbuena, in the heart of the Ribera del Duero (Valladolid), the monks of the Cistercian order, inventors of the wines of the Ribera del Duero, were sometimes helped by non-religious personnel who worked in exchange for food and shelter; they were "the converts".
It’s in their honour that our Converso D.O. Ribera del Duero, 100% Tempranillo Crianza get its name. Aged in French and American oak barrels for 12 months and made with a selection of the best grapes grown in the upper areas of the vineyard, which produce the most outstanding fruit.
Its production is limited to only 20,000 bottles.
TASTING NOTE
VISUAL: a well-layered wine, with blue tones that denote its youth and garnet reflections from its time in the barrel.
ON THE NOSE: ample and sweet, good black fruit typical of the variety, well-structured wood, with notes of vanilla, dairy and leather.
ON THE PALATE: a long, agreeable wine, with dairy and ripe fruit again coming through.
IDEAL FOR: charcuterie, pasta, rice dishes, stews, simple fish dishes and grilled or baked meats.
WORLD-RENOWNED
Castilla Termal Hotels is home to one of the best wines in the world. Converso has been recognised with the Gold Bacchus in the XVIII International Bacchus Wine Contest and with the Silver Zarcillo in the XVII Edition of the Zarcillo Awards. In addition, it won the Grand Silver Bacchus in the XIX International Bacchus Wine Competition and the Grand Gold Medal in the Concours Mondial Bruxelles.
