Within the walls of the Santa María de Valbuena Monastery (12th century), located in the town of San Bernardo in the heart of the Ribera del Duero in Valladolid, were the monks of the Cistercian order, considered by some to be the fathers or precursors of Ribera del Duero wines. They were assisted in some of their agricultural tasks by the “Conversos” (converts), non-religious personnel who worked in exchange for food and shelter.
In their honor, we carry on their legacy, crafting our Vino Converso with the same grapes from the monastery's vineyards. A wine aged in French and American oak barrels for 12 months and made with the best grapes, selecting the highest vineyard areas, avoiding the wetter ones near the Duero river. Its 2018 vintage has a limited production of 20,000 bottles. A wine resulting from a carefully selected harvest, with character and exclusive in all its nuances.
